“I wrote ‘Shape of You’ for Rihanna” – Ed Sheeran


 

Talented British singer, Ed Sheeran reveals that the Barbadian singer Rihanna was the inspiration for his popular song "Shape Of You".


He made this known while speaking in a recent interview with Hits Radio.


Ed Sheeran lauded Rihanna's music prowess, noting that she cannot be confined to a single genre.


According to him, Rihanna was the one he had in mind when he wrote his hit song, "Shape of You", which was released on January 6th, 2017.


"Rihanna is genre-less, she can do anything. She's the grail for songwriters. When I wrote Shape Of You, the person I was writing in my mind for was Rihanna," Sheeran said.

At the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, the song scooped the Best Pop Solo Performance Grammy.


Additionally, Ed Sheeran disclosed that he penned Justin Bieber's popular song, "Love Yourself." He said that many musicians had originally rejected the tune.
