Femi Falana (SAN) to FGN, EFCC & Justice Department "Stop looking for scapegoats and loopholes: settle the mambilla hydro dispute amicably"

Legal experts urge FGN to settle legal dispute on Mambilla hydro project amicably.

Legal authorities of repute have advised the Federal Government of Nigeria to resolve the ongoing dispute on Mambilla Hydro Power amicably with Sunrise Power Transmission Company of Nigeria.

They urged the federal government to seek an amicable settlement of the matter and engage in negotiations with the firm to resolve the protracted litigation and potential national embarrassment.

The legal authorities stated that unlike the Process & Industrial Developments (P&ID) case which was "flawed with corruption, bribery and preemptive contractual Loopholes," the Mambilla/Sunrise case is different.

The legal luminaries said that with documentary evidence and correspondences from FG to Sunrise all submitted to the ICC tribunal, "it is almost impossible for the government to win against Sunrise".

As a result, they called on the federal government to take the needed steps toward the global resolution of this long-drawn matter.

They added that "it is evident that Sunrise Power has shown commitment towards a peaceful resolution but continues to fight for its rights in court."

They claimed that aside from unsubstantive allegations being made against Sunrise, "there is too much evidence against FGN" and "no amount of arm-twisting or blackmail would give FGN a better case or a way out."

Legal experts like Femi Falana (SAN), Afe Babalola (SAN), & Wale Olanipekun (SAN) have weighed in.

The top lawyers have advised President Bola Tinubu to step in and resolve the dispute amicably.
