Bayelsa Police Arrest Woman and Doctor for Defrauding Public with Fake Surgery Appeal The Bayelsa State Police have arrested a woman, Ogechi Okechukwu, a resident of Yenagoa, along with a doctor from the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), for allegedly defrauding the public through a fake surgery fundraising scheme. Ogechi reportedly conspired with the doctor to deceive unsuspecting individuals on Facebook by falsely claiming she needed financial assistance for surgery. The doctor is said to have aided her by providing fake medical reports, drug prescriptions, and staging medical procedures to make her appear genuinely ill. These included administering a fake intravenous drip, conducting a fake blood transfusion, and presenting fabricated scan results to convince donors of her condition. A Facebook influencer, Iwaoma Susan Joseph, unknowingly helped raise N800,000, believing the appeal to be genuine.   Update: Singer Portable granted Nam bail Controversial singer and Zaazoo ze crooner, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been granted bail by the Isabo magistrate court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun state, The singer was arraigned before the court this morning on five-count charges bordering on conspiracy, assault, and restriction, armed with cutlasses and guns, and conduct likely to cause harm. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. Nine of his aides were arraigned for similar charges before Magistrate O L Oke. The nine suspects are: Nurudeen Warris, 21, Adetola Alashe, 25, Samuel Adeleke, 28, Oluwaseun Ayenuwa, 19, Oluwapelumi Adeosun, 20, Gospel Kanu, 20, Precious Ohiegebo, 19, Ifeoluwa Babatunde, 27, and Fatimo Muhammed, 26.   There was a mild drama on Wednesday as a standoff over seating arrangements led to a heated exchange between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) and the senate leadership. Trouble began when Senator Natasha’s seat was relocated upon resumption of the session presided by the Senate President, Godswill Obot Akpabio, but she refused to comply with the change. The Chief Whip, Senator Mohammed Ali Monguno drew the attention of the Senate President to “Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s improper seating position of the lawmaker.” As Monguno made his submission, Natasha interjected forcefully, demanding explanations for the change.   Portable arrives Ogun police headquarters in Abeokuta Habeeb Okikiola, the controversial Nigerian singer popularly known as Portable, has arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta. Portable, who had earlier surrendered himself at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba arrived at exactly 13:23 hours. The Command's Spokeperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, stated that his arrival at the SCID marks the beginning of his prosecution in connection with an ongoing investigation into an alleged attack on Ogun state officials. Odutola however, assured the public that due process will be followed in handling the matter, and updates will be provided as necessary. "We urge members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. "The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to upholding justice and maintaining public order", she said.

The unnamed victim was shopping with her husband in the city of Anápolis on Saturday when the incident occurred. Shocking CCTV footage shows the woman calmly strolling down the aisle of a supermarket before her pants erupt into a fireball and she jumps and attempts to get the burning device out of her pocket. She was taken to Alfredo Abraão Hospital, where she was reportedly treated for first- and second-degree burns, including on her hand, forearm, back, and buttocks. Part of her hair was burned and she was scheduled to return to the hospital to have her wounds treated. Her husband, Mateus Lima, told local media that his wife was traumatized by the incident. This is the second time the Nigerian singer will win a Grammy after she earned her first Grammy award for her contribution to Future's hit single 'Wait For U'. This year, Tems' 'Love Me Jeje' beat Yemi Alade's 'Tomorrow', Asake 'MMS', Chris Brown's 'Sensational' feat Davido & Lojay, and Burna Boy's 'Higher' to get her second Grammy win. All the songs nominated in the second installment of the category were by Nigerian artists.
